Bus to North Elmham & Walk Back

This walk took us on the Konect bus 21 out to North Elmham for a walk back to Dereham. Happily for us, the bus driver put his coffee break to one side and agreed to join in our starting photo (second from left if you hadn’t worked that out).

After alighting, we walked through North Elmham itself, passing the railway station and making our way to Worthing (no, not the one on the south coast). From here it was a steady walk along a quiet lane until we reached the top of Hoe Common. A very pleasant descent through the woods brought us out to the Dereham to North Elmham road, which we crossed to enter and pass through Hoe Rough.

Crossing another road (Dereham to Beetley) we walked up Mill Lane, quickly leaving the houses behind as we passed the fruit bushes of Dillington and then made out way towards Quebec Wood. The final section into Dereham saw us follow Sandy Lane, and then a last climb up through the churchyard to regain the Market Place.
