Meet Ray
Pattenden

In the end, ten people made the journey to Eye in Suffolk for an 'out of area' walk.

We were greeted by Ray Pattenden of Eye Outdoors Group (EOG), one of the two towns in Suffolk carrying Walkers are Welcome accreditation. Taking us first to a local coffee stop, Ray also provided information about some of the buildings in Eye and its history.

Suitably refreshed and joined by other EOG walkers, we were led out of the town to the south, through the Town Moors and along the long distance trail known as the Mid Suffolk Footpath.

Walking past traditional farm

Some of the route was through fields, some along green lanes where the additional shade was welcome. Having crossed the River Dove, we turned to head back north to the east of Eye, entering the town again past the church and the adjacent Eye Grammar School (originally the Guildhall).
